China University of Petroleum (East China) is a national key university directly affiliated to the Ministry of Education and a member of the “211 Project” and “985 innovation platform for preponderant discipline” universities. Founded in 1953, UPC is the first petroleum institute of higher education in China. The main campus locates in the beautiful coastal city of Qingdao. It constitutes of 12 schools, covering 61 undergraduate programs, 33 graduate programs and 11 doctoral programs, of which petroleum-related programs stay ranked top in China. UPC opens more than 10 English-instructed programs and has an international student apartment building and an international student cafeteria. By the October of 2015, the full-time enrollment exceeds 19000 undergraduates and 5500 postgraduates. At present, UPC has 980 international students from 74 countries for long-term study, 916 of whom pursue their degrees.
