Established in 1925, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, known as SWUFE, is one of the Ministry of Education’s 71 key universities and within which, one of the only five universities of finance and economics. It now consists of 2 campuses, 27 departments and schools. As a top leading university in finance and economics, SWUFE offers most of the finance, economics and management disciplines. SWUFE started to enroll overseas students in 1996 and was listed as a key university for overseas student education by the Ministry of Education in 2001. At present the university offers 57 Doctoral degree programs, 108 Master’s degree programs and 33 Bachelor’s degree programs to overseas students. The university has 4 mobile post-doctoral stations; 4 key disciplines registered at the ministerial level, i.e., Finance, Political Economics, Accounting and Statistics; 5 key disciplines registered at provincial first level; 4 key disciplines registered at provincial second level. The university also has four Bachelor’s degree programs, two Master’s degree programs and three Doctoral degree program delivered completely in English and these programs have trained thousands of foreign students from over 100 countries. At present, SWUFE has 15800 full-time undergraduate students, 5800 Master’s degree candidates and 900 Doctoral degree candidates. There were also 700 long-term international students on campus.
