Discover China Through its Stories(Season 8) Free to Watch About This Course Course Trailer Course Syllabus Course provider About This Course Discover China Through its Stories, a bilingual Chinese culture video course series jointly directed by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the PRC and New Channel International Education Group, integrates language learning, Chinese culture knowledge and cross-cultural communication. The course consists of 10 seasons, with 6 Chinese stories per season, 7 lessons per story, and 420 lessons in total. Curated by renowned language education expert Professor Hu Min and taught by Oxford University graduate David Symington, this series features more than 40 outstanding teachers from China and abroad. Two recipients of the Chinese Government Friendship Award, Dr. William N. Brown, an American professor at Xiamen University, and Mr. Paul White, a British translator, are also invited to share their favorite stories from the course. The course’s 60 Chinese stories are all from the Stories of China Retold in English - Elementary Stage (Bilingual) published by People's Publishing House in China, and cover the six major areas of Chinese culture: Chinese cultural icons, Chinese customs, Chinese arts, Chinese achievements, Chinese sages and great figures, and Chinese spirit. Discover China Through its Stories(Season 1) Discover China Through its Stories, a bilingual Chinese culture video course series jointly directed by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the PRC and New Channel International Education Group, integrates language learning, Chinese culture knowledge and cross-cultural communication. The course consists of 10 seasons, with 6 Chinese stories per season, 7 lessons per story, and 420 lessons in total.Curated by renowned language education expert Professor Hu Min and taught by Oxford University graduate David Symington, this series features more than 40 outstanding teachers from China and abroad. Two recipients of the Chinese Government Friendship Award, Dr. William N. Brown, an American professor at Xiamen University, and Mr. Paul White, a British translator, are also invited to share their favorite stories from the course.The course’s 60 Chinese stories are all from the Stories of China Retold in English - Elementary Stage (Bilingual) published by People's Publishing House in China, and cover the six major areas of Chinese culture: Chinese cultural icons, Chinese customs, Chinese arts, Chinese achievements, Chinese sages and great figures, and Chinese spirit. Each story is taught in seven 15-minute mini-lessons through comprehensive modules that reinforce a standardized and authentic use of language through English/Chinese recitation, bilingual presentation skills, appreciation of writing styles, understanding the purpose of the story, and bilingual cross-cultural knowledge.
